What We Believe

What We Believe

At Salem First Methodist, we believe that the Christian faith is rooted in something bigger than ourselves. We stand within the historic Christian tradition, holding to the faith handed down through the generations and expressed in the great creeds of the Church, especially the Apostle’s Creed and the Nicene Creed.

We believe in one God—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—and in Jesus Christ, whose life, death, and resurrection offer salvation and new life to the world. We believe Scripture is God’s Word, that grace is at the heart of God’s relationship with us, and that the Holy Spirit continues to shape us into the people God calls us to be.

As a Methodist church, we believe faith is meant to be lived. God’s grace not only forgives us but transforms us, calling us to grow in holiness, love our neighbors, serve those in need, and reflect the character of Christ in our daily lives.

We seek to be a church rooted in historic Christian orthodoxy, growing in faith, and open to the transforming work of God’s Spirit. Wherever you are on your journey, there is a place for you here.
